Raita - Salad Yoghurt

DESCRIPTION

​A cooling combination of salad vegetable dipped in plain or Greek yoghurt makes a beautiful balance as a side-dish for hot and spicy curry based dishes.  A quick, healthy recipe that can be made in a few minutes, with hardly any effort.

Ingredients

  • 1 Bowl of plain Yoghurt.
  • 1  Tomato chopped.
  • 1 cucumber chopped.
  • 1 cup whole urid dhal
  • 2 chillies(broken in to 2 halves)
  • 1/2 carrot chopped/shredded
  • 1 onion chopped.
  • 1 red dried chilli.
  • Hand full of curry leaves.
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds.
  • oil (little bit).
  • Salt to taste.

Method

  1. If  Yoghurt is too thick dilute with some water-so that it is more fluid.
  2. Add the cucumber,tomatos,onion,carrot and chillies.
  3. Add salt and stir well and keep aside.
  4. Turn on the stove,and add a little bit of oil in a small saucepan.
  5. Add the mustard once oil heats, and wait until they start popping.
  6. Add dried chilli.
  7. Add fresh curry leaves.
  8. Turn off the stove.
  9. Add the mixture in the saucepan over the yoghurt preparation.
  10. Now it is ready to be served.
