Vendhiya Puli Kozhambu (Fenugreek Tamarind Curry Rice)

Ingredients

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

  •   2 tsp fenugreek seeds

  • 2 tsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp flour

  • 2 tsp chilli powder

  • Curry leaves

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tbsp tamarind paste

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • Asafoetida small pinch

  • 3 tbsp oil

  • Chillies 1-2 or more according to your taste

 


 

 

Method
  1. .Prepare rice using microwave with the ratio 1:2. For 1 cup rice add 2 cups water.

  2. Place in the microwave oven for 17 minutes. Check if cooked and if not keep for another 2 to 3 minutes

  3. Place wok on stove and add oil, leave to heat well

  4. Add mustard seeds  and fenugreek seeks. Wait till mustard seeds pop and fenugreek seeds turn golden brown and then,

  5. Add curry leaves

  6. Roughly chop chillies and add.

  7. Add all the remaining ingredients together into a bowl (turmeric powder, sugar, chilli powder, tamarind essence, salt, asafoetida (small pinch) and flour) 

  8. Add some water and mix the ingredients together so there is enough mixture to fill 1 cup

  9. Add mixture into the wok and mix well

  10. Wait till the mixture comes to a boil and thicken

  11. Serve along with warm rice.
