Oats Payasam (Oats Kheer) (Oats Pudding)
DESCRIPTION
This is a sweet version of the oat meal preparation. While we all know that oats have numerous health benefits, many of us still find it difficult to find new ways of preparing a good recipe with this ingredient. Oats payasam is one such delicious preparation using this fabulous ingredient!
INGREDIENTS
METHOD
- 1 cup quick oats
- Light Soya milk (you can use regular milk as well)
- 4-5 cardamom pods seeds
- handful of sultanas
- 4-5 cashew nuts
- 4-5 almonds
- handful of mixed seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, cucumber)
- 3-4 tbsp of sugar (you can add more depending on your taste)
- Ghee
- Water as required
- Place the oats in a saucepan
- Pour enough milk such that the oats are submerged
- Add a little bit of water.
- Place the seeds of the cardamom pods, cashew nuts, almonds, and the mixed seeds in the mortar and pestle. Grind well.
- Add this powder into the saucepan. Mix well.
- Add sugar into the saucepan (raw sugar or white sugar).
- Turn on the stove and place the saucepan. Heat this up until the oats get cooked and nearly disappear. Turn off the stove.
- In a separate saucepan, add the ghee and wait until this melts a little bit.
- Add the sultanas and wait until they inflate and enlarge.
- Add the these enlarged sultanas with the oats mixture and mix well.
- Decorate with some whole nuts and serve warm.
