MASALA DOSA

DESCRIPTION

​Masala Dosa is a very popular South Indian recipe. Stuffed with potato filling that is covered by a thin crispy layer of Dosa makes Masala Dosa a very delicious meal that you can relish. This mouthwatering meal can be eaten with sambar, chutney, or any curry. Watch the video to learn the quick, and easy way of enjoying this delicious type of Dosa at your home.

Preparation of Potato stuffing



  1. Place a saucepan on the stove, and add enough oil. 
  2. Once the oil heats up, add the onions, and fry well. 
  3. Add the turmeric powder, ginger, and green chillies. Fry well.
  4. Add salt to taste, then add the boiled potatoes.
  5. Continue frying until it all comes together.
  6. Add the coriander leaves and mix through before turning off the stove.



Making of the Masala Dosas 



  1. Add a handful of semolina into the dosa batter so that the dosas turn out to be crispy.
  2. Keep the frying pan (Tava) on the stove. Add a little bit of oil and wait until it heats.
  3. Add large spoonfuls of the dosa batter and spread it in a circular motion.
  4. Sprinkle droplets of oil around the edges.
  5. Flip the dosa to cook the other side. 
  6. Place spoonfuls of the masala and spread across the centre of the dosa.
  7. Fold the sides to enclose the masala stuffing inside.
  8. Repeat until you reach the desired amount of dosas (or until the masala finishes).
  9. Serve with chutney, sambar, and any curry or korma.

Ingredients

  • Dosa Batter (Same as Idli Batter - Episode 76)
  • Semolina - (Rava / Sooji) - Handful
  • 4 Medium sized potatoes - cut and boiled
  • 2 onions chopped finely
  • Coriander leaves - chopped finely
  • 1/2 chilli chopped finely
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Ginger - small piece, chopped finely
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil
