Hot and Spicy Tomato Thokku
DESCRIPTION
This is a colourful, spicy pungent gravy made from the essence of tomatoes combined with aromatic spices and hot chillies. The very delectable hot and spicy tomato gravy makes adds great flavor to any meal and is certainly a must-try!
Ingredients
- 9 tomatoes diced with its juice
- 4-5 tbsp tomato paste
- 3-4 tbsp chilli powder
- pinch of asafotida
- salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- curry leaves- handful
- 3-4 red dried chillies
- oil 2 tbsp for stir frying
Method
- Mix the tomatp paste and diced tomatoes together.
- In the same bowl add the chilli powder,turmeric powder and salt
- mix well
- turn on the stove and add the oil in the sauce pan
- once oil heats, add the mustard seeds and wait until they start popping
- Add the red dried chillies followed by the curry leaves
- Add the pinch of asafotida
- Add the tomato mixture we made before in the bowl.
- Mix well, once it simmer turn off the stove.
- Serve as side dish for dosa idlli, bread,rice
- store in the fridge.
