INGREDIENTS

METHOD

  1. Soak tamarind in warm water and prepare tamarind essence by mixing thoroughly and removing all the fibers out.
  2. Add turmeric powder, sugar, salt, plain flour into the essence. Mix the mixture thoroughly and ensure that there are no lumps.
  3. Add asafetida to this mixture and mix
  4. Turn on the stove, place the saucepan on stove  and allow it to heat
  5. Add oil and allow to heat, then add mustard seeds and wait for them to start spluttering
  6. Add curry leaves and chillies to this. Fry well for a couple of minutes and add the tamarind essence mixture to this.
  7. Keep stirring the ingredients until they become little thick
  8. Once the gravy thickens a little, turn off the stove and remove
  • 5 chillies chopped into small pieces
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • Handful of curry leaves
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1-2 tbsp plain flour
  • Lime sized ball of tamarind
  • 3 tbsps pil
  • Pinch of Asafetida
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt to taste
