INGREDIENTS
METHOD
- Soak tamarind in warm water and prepare tamarind essence by mixing thoroughly and removing all the fibers out.
- Add turmeric powder, sugar, salt, plain flour into the essence. Mix the mixture thoroughly and ensure that there are no lumps.
- Add asafetida to this mixture and mix
- Turn on the stove, place the saucepan on stove and allow it to heat
- Add oil and allow to heat, then add mustard seeds and wait for them to start spluttering
- Add curry leaves and chillies to this. Fry well for a couple of minutes and add the tamarind essence mixture to this.
- Keep stirring the ingredients until they become little thick
- Once the gravy thickens a little, turn off the stove and remove
- 5 chillies chopped into small pieces
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- Handful of curry leaves
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1-2 tbsp plain flour
- Lime sized ball of tamarind
- 3 tbsps pil
- Pinch of Asafetida
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt to taste
