Beetroot Chutney
INGREDIENTS
METHOD
- Place utensil on stove
- Add oil once this utensil heats up
- Once oil heats up add mustard seeds and wait for them to splutter and then add urid dhal
- Wait for urid dhal to turn golden brown
- Add curry leaves
- Add garlic, grated coconut, onion, beetroot and chillis
- Add salt to taste and fry ingredients together
- Fry until beetroot softens and cooks . You can add a little water to make this process easier.
- Once all ingredients are cooked , put this mixture into the blender and blend into a fine chutney. Add squeeze of lemon juice while blending
- Beetroot chutney is now ready to be served!
- 1 medium sized beetroot roughly chopped
- 1 onion roughly chopped
- Pinch of grated coconut
- 2 cloves of garlic
- Pinch of mustard seeds
- 1 tsp urid dhal
- Pinch of curry leaves
- Lemon juice for taste
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
- Chilli (optional)

Beetroot chutney is a very flavor-some and healthy side dish to have along with many snacks and meals. This mouthwatering recipe is very handy to be used as spread for sandwiches. Great for all ages and in particular your kids will not only love this chutney for its taste but also for its eye catching colour.
